Description
SAIC is currently seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to support the Plasma Experiment Ground Antenna System (PEGASYS) task within the NSWC Crane Division. NOTE: We are hoping to staff in proximity to Crane. While this position allows for remote work, the candidate may need to come in for meetings or other in-person activities, likely no more than once weekly. Job Responsibilities: Candidate will be responsible for providing advanced mechanical engineering support spanning Mechanical Design, CAD Model Development, model verification and validation, and all major engineering design reviews. Perform requirements analysis Create and track system and design requirements Provide advanced CAD modeling support Support Manufacturer Selection and Manufacturing Oversite Support COTS Equipment Selection Provide technical Input into Requirements, System Architecture and Interfaces Key Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field 5+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience Interim Secret Clearance required to start with the ability to obtain a secret clearance. SAIC will sponsor the clearance process. Candidate must be a US Citizen Experience with Design for Manufacture (DFM) Demonstrated advanced CAD Proficiency Demonstrated FEA Proficiency for Static, Quasi-Static, Dynamic and Vibration Analysis Desired Skills: Experience working with DoD clients and projects at NSWC Crane or similar environments Mechanical design practices of airborne equipment for high-speed flight and reentry systems according to MIL-STDs Mechanical design practices of shipborne equipment according to MIL-STDs Experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) according to ASME Y14.5 Experience in Digital Technical Data Package (TDP) according to MIL-STD-31000 Experience in Managing CAD in PDM or PLM Experience with collaborative Requirements and Architecture Tools like IBM Doors or Cameo Systems Modeler
