POSITION SUMMARY

Thales Canada is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support its Non-Combatant In-Service Support Programs for the Royal Canadian Navy.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work within the Thales LCMM & Engineering Team and is responsible for marine systems and mechanical technical support of various Royal Canadian Navy’s Non-Combatant Platforms. This includes but is not limited to marine propulsion systems, maneuvering systems, bilge, ballast, and other auxiliary systems. This consists of planning, overseeing and executing engineering tasks within time and cost constraints to meet the Key Performance Indicators in accordance with Thales quality and commercial guidelines.
As the senior resource, will work with intermediate and junior engineers to delegate tasks, coordinate work and provide mentorship where needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 8 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer in the marine industry;
  • Bachelor Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering;
  • Currently registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in a Canadian Province, transferable to Ontario, Nova Scotia or British Columbia; and

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience with Royal Canadian Navy or Canadian Coast Guard;
  • Experience in delivering marine in-service support of operational assets;
  • Previous experience working with a defense contract;
  • Team leadership experience;
  • Demonstrated Project Management experience;

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • 40 hours per week
  • Physical Environment: Hybrid position – a mix of working from home and onsite (in office or on board DND ships at waterfront)
  • Travel: Occasional domestic or international travel may be required in support of the ships
