WSP currently has a career opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team and support mining and metals, oil and gas, and heavy industrial projects. The position is responsible for managing all aspects of the mechanical and piping engineering discipline. This position will be leading small to large projects and will be interacting with all members of the project team, including the client, sub-contractors, and on-site construction contractors.

Location : It is preferred to join the Salt Lake City office, however, depending on candidate preference, this individual can work in our Salt Lake City, UT, Tucson AZ or Tempe AZ offices.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• EIT required
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license and stamp is preferred in at least one state in USA with ability to acquire licenses in other states.
• Minimum 5 – 7 years of related engineering experience in an EPCM or similar company is required for this position.
• Knowledge and understanding of how the mechanical and piping engineering activities integrate into a complete project.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with customers and vendors.
• Ability to work with administrative supervision and effectively manage multiple and conflicting priorities.
• Understanding of the technical and commercial aspects of the organization’s projects and proposals.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and specialized software packages used for mechanical and piping engineering and design.
• Knowledge of relevant industry codes such as, but not limited to, ASME, CEMA and API.
• Preference will be given to candidate with experience in Mineral / Mining and/or Oil and Gas projects.
• Ability and willingness to travel for meetings and site visits and accept remote assignments, as required. Approximately 10% - 15% travel.
• Must pass background check.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) from ABET accredited program.
• Project Management experience or a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification in an engineering consulting environment is a plus.
• An up to date NCEES record.
• Design-Build project execution experience.
• Experience with metal/mineral mining, oil and gas, industrial water treatment, and municipal facilities projects.
• AutoCAD, Revit, or other design program competence.
