Description

As a Senior Mechanical Engineering Technician at Autotool Inc., you will play a critical role in bridging the gap between engineering design and manufacturing execution. You will work closely with engineers, machinists, and assembly teams to ensure that mechanical components and automated tooling systems are built to specification, tested thoroughly, and optimized for performance and manufacturability.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field.
  • +5yrs of experience in a similar role will be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Experience in mechanical assembly, testing, or manufacturing of automated systems or machinery.
  • Strong proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks& E-drawings) and interpreting engineering drawings (GD&T).
  • Proven experience working with pneumatics, actuators, linear motion systems, bearings, and precision tooling.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Familiarity with PLC-driven automation systems is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with a commitment to teamwork and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Support the mechanical engineering team in the design, build, and integration of automated tooling systems and equipment.
  • Interpret and verify detailed technical drawings, CAD models, and assembly instructions.
  • Lead hands-on assembly, testing, debugging, and validation of mechanical systems and prototypes.
  • Identify and resolve mechanical issues during the build and commissioning phases of projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, controls, machining, and quality) to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Conduct design reviews and provide feedback to improve manufacturability, reliability, and safety.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including build reports, test procedures, and technical manuals.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior technicians and apprentices.
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards, customer specifications, and applicable safety regulations.
  • Lead a team of mechanical technicians on installations lasting 5-10 days, 3-5 times a year.
