Description
About the role Private Secretary Group is a specialist practice management and medical secretarial services company, providing outsourced administrative support to private medical consultants and clinics across the UK. We are seeking an experienced Senior Medical Secretary to join our growing team at our Bristol office. This is an office-based role, supporting a defined group of private consultants as part of a wider practice management team. Rather than working directly for a single hospital or clinic, you will be employed by Private Secretary Group and will provide structured, day-to-day secretarial and administrative support to consultants whose practices we manage. You will take ownership of workloads, manage clinics end-to-end, handle patient and clinician communications, prepare and issue clinic letters, raise invoices, and ensure records are accurately maintained within the practice management system. This role suits an organised, confident, and experienced medical secretary who enjoys autonomy, variety, and working within a fast-paced private healthcare support environment, while being based full-time in an office setting with a supportive team around them. Essential: Proven experience as a Medical Secretary, ideally within private practice or outsourced support services Strong understanding of clinic workflows, patient pathways, and consultant support requirements Excellent written and verbal communication skills High level of organisation and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple consultants and competing priorities simultaneously Confidence communicating with consultants, patients, hospitals, and external providers Strong IT skills, including practice management systems, email, and document handling Desirable: Experience working within a practice management company or outsourced medical support service Experience with private billing, invoicing, and payment processes Familiarity with Carebit or similar practice management systems Previous experience in a senior or desk-lead medical secretarial role Competitive hourly rate of £15 per hour Employer pension contributions and statutory benefits Office-based role within an established and growing practice management company Exposure to a variety of consultants and specialities, offering a varied and engaging workload Clear desk ownership with autonomy and responsibility Supportive team environment with structured systems and processes
Responsibilities
The Senior Medical Secretary will provide structured secretarial and administrative support to private consultants, managing clinics end-to-end and handling communications.
