Description

Nanogami is a highly innovative and rapidly growing startup in the field of DNA Origami-based nanotechnology (check out our DLD Talk or this article to learn more). Our international team is driven by a shared vision: to pioneer a novel generation of biochips set to unlock applications in research and diagnostics and thereby pushing the boundaries of personalised medicine to new heights. In 2022 we secured significant funding by SPRIND - Germany’s Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation to realize our ambitious growth trajectory and now aim to significantly expand our current team to support the at-scale commercialisation of our nanotechnology.
We are seeking a Senior Fluidics Hardware Engineer (m/f/d) to build and lead our newly established fluidics team. This critical role involves the end-to-end design and development of a fluidic cartridge system for medical sample processing. Your core responsibility will be to lead the design, production, and verification of a fluidic subsystem for diagnostic applications, with a strong focus on sample preparation, purification, fluid control, and COGS optimization. You will drive projects from early prototypes to pre-production units, combining in-house prototyping and analytical tools with strategic support from external service providers and manufacturers.

REQUIREMENTS

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience designing and prototyping fluidic systems, preferably for biological or medical applications
  • Experience with prototyping methods for fluidic systems, in particular for sample purification and extraction workflows
  • Experience with production of consumables for GMP-regulated environments, ideally for diagnostic systems
  • Familiarity with material compatibility and biofouling considerations in biological sample handling
  • Experience bringing fluidic devices from early-stage prototypes to preproduction, including DfM and scaling considerations
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, experimental rigor, and documentation practices
  • Proven leadership experience with a strong track record in building and leading high-performing teams
  • Demonstrated ability to independently plan and manage product development budgets, timelines, and resources
