Calian is proactively seeking Firefighter Instructors to join our team at CFB Borden to work on upcoming fulltime contracts

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a minimum two (2) years’ experience instructing in the content area related to the task from the date of draft TAF issuance.
  • Must have a minimum five (5) years’ experience working (not as an instructor) in the content area related to the task from the date of draft TAF issuance.
  • Must hold a valid Standard First Aid certification from the date of draft TAF issuance
  • Where the service calls for operating a motor vehicle:
  • Fire Fighter instructor must possess:

  • EMR Instructor
  • Incident safety officer
  • Aerial Operations
  • Inspector Level 1

Responsibilities:

  • Providing instruction in the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of a Firefighter in The Canadian Armed Forces
  • Using word processing, spreadsheet, and database software (MS Office Suite);
  • Preparing lesson plans;
  • Operate training simulators, tools, and/or other equipment used in the occupation being instructed or by the institution providing the training;
  • Assisting other instructors in training activities requiring more than one instructor;
  • Counselling students on their progress; Maintaining and updating student files;
  • Performing student assessments
  • Assisting DND by making recommendations and changes to existing curriculum;
  • Providing safety support by administering immediate first aid to students and unit personnel in the event of emergency;
  • Identify training equipment shortfalls;
  • Monitor training activities and provide feedback for improvement for instructional techniques;
  • Suggest training improvements through the chain of command;
  • Develop exercises in support of training (where required);
  • Co-ordinate administrative details for courses (where required);
  • Produce After Course Review; and
  • Attend staff meetings as directed
