Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has three operating gold mines in Mali, Namibia and the Philippines, the Goose Project under construction in northern Canada, and numerous development and exploration projects in various countries including Mali, Colombia, and Finland.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mining Engineering (or similar) from an accredited university or college;
  • Professional Certification (P. Eng., P.E., or similar);
  • Minimum seven years of experience in industry with at least five years of underground mining operations experience is required;
  • Strong knowledge, expertise, and understanding of mine optimization, design, production planning, and site performance;
  • Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft software (Word, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint) and at least one mine design/planning system (Deswik, MineSite, Datamine, Surpac, Vulcan, etc.); The B2Gold Corporate team uses Deswik.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with demonstrated experience in technical reporting writing and public presentations;
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team environment but also available to work independently with minimum supervision;
  • Available to think strategically with a big-picture mindset;
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Ability to work under pressure with a high level of commitment to meeting deadlines and producing high quality work;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with different cultures across different time zones.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with and/or managing consultants and teams directly and remotely is an asset;
  • Experience with challenging jurisdictions a strong asset.

JOB DEMANDS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • This position is based out of our Vancouver head office with frequent domestic and international travel required which may be on short notice and for long durations (up to approximately 30% of the time annually)
Responsibilities
  • Develop the Life of Mine (LOM) operational case for Goose Project, focusing on the underground (UG) deposits;
  • Conduct high-level reviews of block model updates for each deposit;
  • Perform mine method selection based on the geometry of each deposit;
  • Develop Stope Optimizer input parameters and conduct stope optimization exercises for all deposits;
  • Take overall responsibility for long term design of all underground deposits at the Goose Project;
  • Prepare scheduling of all deposits and evaluate the standalone economics to determine their viability and sequence within the overall LOM;
  • Assist in the preparation of the LOM operational case economic model;
  • Update mine design beyond the LOM level and manage the transition to the next phases of development
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of Requests for Proposal (RFPs), including mine design, scheduling, technical, and economic forms;
  • Assist with detailed planning for external consultant jobs such as geotechnical programs, hydrogeological assessments, ventilation planning;
  • Participate in the technical review and audit activities related to the Goose Project LOM operational case model;
  • Provide leadership and training to developing team members, and other project team members as required; and
  • Perform other duties as required in support of Company objectives.
