This is a remote position. Job Title: Senior iOS Software Engineer Reporting into: VP of Engineering Location: Remote (North America, South America) As a Senior Mobile Developer, you will help us build the user-facing pieces of the next generation of Scruff and Jack’d. We are looking for engineers who are passionate about architecture and excited to become polyglot in their understanding of Swift, Kotlin, and backend framework languages. We are a small, nimble company, so the ability to make an impact is significant. The position is 40 hours per week and ongoing/full-time. What you'll do: Clean architecture using dependency injection (Koin/Swinject), modules, and functional & reactive programming (RxJava/Combine) Modern UIs with a live style guide and Jetpack Compose/SwiftUI Test and behavior-driven development, starting with the ViewModel layer (see our blogs), using Quick/Nimble, KoTest, Konsist, and CombineExpectations. We are pioneers of architectural linters (we are the #1 consumer of Konsist and introduced Harmonize for iOS). This enables us to apply architectural principles across a global, distributed team Work in an agile team with Product, Design, Support, and Marketing to respond to our users' needs Help develop solutions end to end, from the design, to requirements, coding, refactoring, delivering, and maintenance Be a good communicator using pair and mob programming across a global team Ability to learn and develop other technologies - Kotlin, React, and/or Ruby on Rails Ability to use latest AI coding technologies -- Claude Code, GH Copilot, etc -- to accelerate your learning and development speed Develop production-ready code serving millions of users right away You can see more about our architectural approach on our Engineering blog here. Requirements Timezone requirements: Because we are a global, remote, distributed company, timezone alignment is critical If you are EU-based, you must be available to work between 1pm CET and 10pm CET (Winter) or 2pm CET and 11pm CET (Summer) If you are Brasil-based, you must be available to work between 8am EST and 5pm EST If you are North America-based, you must be available to work between 8am EST and 5pm EST Candidates must: Be available to collaborate between 9a EST and 1p EST, regardless of your present timezone. Have experience working for remote, global teams Be excited about and open to pair programming Be open to learning languages outside their current client specialty, such as Ruby, Python or SQL Who you are: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in computer science, related field, or equivalent practical experience 5+ years of software development experience 4+ year of iOS or Android app development experience Experience using design and architecture patterns Deep understanding of Github and git-driven development processes Open to learning about and enhancing your productivity with AI-powered coding tools Good sense of usability and product for mobile apps Strong sense of ownership, ability to work independently, and proven track record of driving products Previously shipped consumer iOS or Android apps, ideally available in the stores Experience with testable and maintainable mobile architectures Bonus if you have experience with: SwiftUI and Combine or Jetpack Compose and RxJava Swift Package Manager or Gradle MVVM Architecture Full stack technologies like Ruby, SQL, Linux, Typescript, Databricks, and AWS CI/CD systems such as Bitrise or Github actions Advanced animations with Lottie Data-driven decision-making And one more thing...
