Description

At Medtronic you can begin a life-long career of exploration and innovation, while helping champion healthcare access and equity for all. You’ll lead with purpose, breaking down barriers to innovation in a more connected, compassionate world.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Medtronic - Digital Technologies is creating ambitious new products that bring connectivity, real-time guidance, and decision support to the operating room. To support this mission, we are developing compact, high-performance embedded systems that enable edge computing and connectivity. Working closely with other teams across Medtronic, we are creating a connected ecosystem and leveraging state-of-the-art computer vision to provide the most comprehensive view of surgery. If you’re interested in using cutting-edge technology to improve the standard of care in surgery on a global scale, this could be the place for you.
As a Senior Test Engineer, you will work on a core product project team alongside developers, designers, and product owners to ensure we deliver sustainable, high-quality product features. We are looking for an inventive and creative Test Engineer who is well-versed in exploratory testing and automation and who finds value in driving story development through user-centric examples. We recognise that quality must happen at every stage of the product development process, and we look to our testers to champion this ethos and help strengthen our quality culture. We care deeply about both the quality of what we’re making and the quality of life of our team.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software testing, preferably in the medical device industry (or other safety-critical industries)
  • Strong programming skills and demonstrable experience in automating acceptance criteria
  • Proficiency with Android Espresso testing, Kotlin, and Gradle
  • Proficiency with the iOS XCUITest framework, Swift, and Fastlane
  • Proven experience in native mobile testing
  • Experience in non-functional and functional test approaches and techniques.
  • Attention to detail, proactive attitude, and excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical team members
  • Demonstrable experience working within an Agile SDLC and applying holistic test practices iteratively throughout the product development cycle
  • Familiarity with the use of network mocking and proxying tools
  • Familiarity with mobile app security best practices
Certification in software testing, such as ISTQB; knowledge of Testing Quadrants and the Holistic Testing Model; experience with DevOps tools for Continuous Integration (CI) testing; and experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) would be beneficial.

  • Work closely with the cross-functional members of the core product project team to refine the acceptance criteria and ensure the definition of done for the stories, features, and release levels is known and specified in the requirements
  • Design and implement automated tests and frameworks for regression testing and continuous integration
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure the verification and validation of acceptance criteria can be reliably checked through the delivery of testability and automated acceptance tests
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement test strategies aligned with regulatory standards for medical devices
  • Conduct risk-driven exploratory testing for individual stories and release candidates using charters and appropriate techniques to discover potential problems
  • Execute test cases, test charters, and build test data for various types of testing, including functional, performance, usability, security, and reliability.
  • Identify, report, and track defects, working closely with developers and stakeholders to resolve issues
  • Help measure how closely the product meets our quality goals and highlight risks
