Job Description The Modeling Artist is responsible for creating high-quality mechanical, organic, or stylized assets, ensuring their smooth integration into the pipeline. In collaboration with supervisors and other departments, they help maintain the visual quality and technical robustness of the delivered models. They produce optimized assets that meet Rodeo FX’s technical, aesthetic, and production standards, while maintaining clear and effective communication with other teams. Main responsibilities: Mastery of his craft Model complex 3D models from concepts, photo references or scanned elements. Produce clean topologies that comply with the production standard. Follow internal nomenclature, organization and delivery conventions. Manage your priorities and respect the defined deadlines. Creative quality Faithfully respect the visual style of the project, whether realistic or stylized. Accurately reproduce volumes, proportions and details. Model accurately even from partial or absent references. Technical quality Build a clean and optimized topology, suitable for subsequent steps. Correct artifacts, maintain clean UVs if required, and verify compliance with standards. Prepare models for export to the following departments. Keep up to date on modeling tools, techniques and methodologies. Communication Communicate effectively with supervisors and production regarding progress, issues or blockages. Collaborate with other teams to ensure smooth continuity between departments. Actively participate in dailies, taking into account artistic and technical feedback. Document non-standard decisions or special cases to ensure work traceability. Learn, transmit and evolve Share your techniques, tools or approaches with your colleagues during internal or informal sessions. Participate in improving department standards and workflows. Welcome feedback with openness and use it as a lever for progress. Explore new tools (e.g., AI, procedural modeling, photogrammetry) to enhance your skills. Qualifications Experience in modeling for VFX (minimum of 6 years). Proficiency in Maya software. Proficiency in ZBrush software. Solid understanding of topology. Solid understanding of volumes, proportions and details. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with other departments. Professional attitude, attention to detail, rigor and adaptability. Asset: experience with Houdini, Wrap, Mush, Marvelous Designer or other software. Additional Information Proven experience as a Mid or Senior Artist. Must be based in Montreal. Canadian citizenship, permanent residency or open work permit is required.
