DESCRIPTION:
TECHFORGE Solutions, a TECHFORGE company, is looking for an experienced and talented software engineer to join our Modeling and Simulation (M&S) development team in the Dayton, OH office. We are looking for a senior level software engineer to work with a diverse team of software engineers and analysts to explore and develop solutions in support of AFRL, NASIC, and DoD and Intelligence Communities. The candidate will be expected to master and evolve existing Modeling & Simulation frameworks (AFSIM) and codebases pursuant to customer needs. The candidate will also be expected to incorporate evolving scenarios and models into AFSIM, while performing testing and verification. Product development will be performed using modern Agile software development practices.
The ideal candidate should be able to turn the information about a physical system (e.g. a missile, ground based weapon system, or aircraft) into complex digital model that would then perform accurately in simulated environments. Complimentary skills include aerospace engineering, whereby the engineer can model the mechanical/aerodynamic conditions or an electrical engineer who can accurately model the electronics and electromagnetic spectrum characteristics of the target systems.
REQUIREMENTS:
- All candidates must be U.S. Citizens.
- All candidates must pass a full scope background check.
- A current Top Secret (or higher) level U.S. government security clearance is required.
- M.S. degree in Mathematics, Science, Physics, Engineering, or equivalent field
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Prior project experience utilizing the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM) and an understanding of how modeling & simulation supports decision-making processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- 7+ years of experience creating digital aerodynamic models.
- 6+ years software development experience.
- 3+ years industry experience with C++, C.
- 1+ years industry experience with Python.
- Experience using source control and CI/CD tools such as git, Bitbucket, Gitlab, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, etc.
- Familiarity with using MATLAB/Simulink.
- Strong expertise and professional experience with AFSIM.
- Professional Experience working with modeling and simulation tools such as NGTS, TMAP, and ITASE.
- Professional involvement with the AFSIM community.
- Deep understanding of the World Simulation Framework.
- Experience with using MATLAB/Simulink.
- Expertise and experience with component-based architectures.
- Expertise and experience native models, plugins, extensions, command syntax, and scripting in an AFSIM context.
- Expertise and experience with Application, Scenario, and Simulations.
- Experience with other mission-level simulation frameworks.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience working with classification handling and marking protocols.
- Ability to assess the accuracy and effectiveness of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
- Conduct data analysis and orchestration of a large volume of data sources, threat indicators, and inputs.
- Must possess and exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must possess and exhibit the ability and desire to work in a remote, collaborative, team environment.
- Must possess functional experience with remote collaboration tools (e.g. Teams, WebEx, Meet, Zoom, etc.);

- Must be able to travel up to 25% as needed.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Master’s degree in Mathematics, Science, Physics, Engineering, or equivalent field +7 years applicable experience; Bachelors degree +10 years applicable experience; or PhD +5 years applicable experience. No degree is required if the person meets the above qualifications and has at least 15 years of professional experience.
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Experience with the agile software lifecycle.
- Willing and able to learn new things and stay on top of the latest and greatest technologies
- Demonstrated experience with intelligence production at the National Air & Space Intelligence Center (NASIC).
- Familiarity with DoD security practices
- 2+ years of Industry experience with C++ development (preferably with C++ 11 or higher)
- Advanced degree in math, physics, or engineering
- Experience developing software for Linux platforms
- Experience with agile development processes
- Experience working with modeling and simulation tools such as NGTS, and ITASE
- Experience with virtual machine and container management platforms such as WSL2 and Docker
- Experience applying object-oriented design patterns within software applications
- Experience with integrated development environments such as Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, PyCharm, etc.
