POSITION OVERVIEW

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) has an immediate opening for a Senior Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Engineer in our growing Engineering Services Group. You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, MOT, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, traffic, and materials disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or greater in Civil Engineering
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Colorado or ability to obtain
  • 20+ years of experience leading and managing design build projects for CDOT and/or Denver municipality with 15+ years of experience in developing Maintenance of Traffic Plans and Transportation Management Plans
  • Experience leading and managing Design build project valuing $250 million or plus
  • Experience of leading a team of at least 10 engineers and designers
  • Critical thinking skills necessary with the ability to plan ahead
  • Knowledge of design software including MicroStation, Inroads, ORD, SignCAD, AutoCAD and Civil3D
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing

Base Compensation: $188,000/yr - $195,000/yr

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic oversight and guidance to project teams to ensure design parameters align with client objectives and regulatory constraints
  • Lead the development and execution of Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) design strategies for both pursuit and final design phases, ensuring innovation and constructability
  • Evaluate project scope and contractual obligations to ensure MOT deliverables meet technical, operational, and stakeholder requirements
  • Mentor and develop junior staff, fostering technical excellence and professional growth through structured guidance and performance feedback
  • Collaborate with estimating and scheduling teams to define and optimize construction phasing strategies that enhance project efficiency and minimize disruption
  • Champion innovation by conceptualizing and evaluating multiple phasing scenarios, design alternatives, and technical solutions to improve project outcomes
  • Direct interdisciplinary coordination efforts to ensure seamless integration of MOT plans with broader design elements across engineering disciplines
  • Oversee quality assurance processes including formal reviews, resolution of design comments, and verification of corrective actions
  • Facilitate and lead high-level project meetings, driving alignment across internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for project stakeholders, ensuring transparent communication and alignment with project goals
  • Lead the development of comprehensive Transportation Management Plans, integrating technical, operational, and stakeholder considerations
