Description
ISSQUARED is seeking a Senior Motherboard/System Architect to lead projects from design conception through to mass production. This is a highly cross-functional role that requires balancing the demands of data center and IT infrastructure system-level design, including areas such as architecture, mechanical, power, software, firmware, board design, hardware validation, and testing. The candidate will play a critical role in the development of in-house server motherboards and systems, working collaboratively with internal cross-functional engineering teams as well as external partners to ensure robust product design. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, results-driven, and committed to excellence—focused on delivering highly competitive, reliable, and durable products. Qualifications: MSEE (CE) with 5+ years or BSEE with 7+ years of hardware design experience. Experience: 5-10 years, extensive hands-on experience in server product design including compute, storage, networking, and accelerators. Key Responsibilities: Define high level architecture for data center motherboard and IT infrastructure include component selection (CPU, Chipset, memory, etc), mechanical power, thermal aspects, block diagram and schematic capture. Collaborating with PCB layout designers to define placement and routing constraints, ensuring high-speed signals are properly routed to minimize interference. Analyzing and reviewing designs for signal integrity, power integrity, and electromagnetic compliance (EMI/EMC) Diagnosing and resolving complex hardware issues, including hardware/software compatibility problems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (firmware, software, mechanical, validation, manufacturing) to ensure successful product integration and delivery. Continuously evaluate and integrate new technologies to enhance product performance and competitiveness. Preferred Skills: Expertise in server motherboard design, CPU interfaces (Intel/AMD), DDR memory subsystems, power delivery, and high-speed digital circuits. Proficient with PCB and simulation tools (Altium, Cadence, SI/PI/Thermal analysis). Strong problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills to collaborate with diverse teams. Skilled in functional specs development, design verification, and testing. Strong root cause analysis at board and system level. Hands-on lab experience with oscilloscopes and diagnostic tools. System & Industry Knowledge: Solid grasp of x86 server architecture, form factors (1U/2U/blade), and data center infrastructure. Knowledge of Windows/Linux OS, virtualization, and cloud computing. Familiar with BMC, IPMI, Redfish, and industry standards (JEDEC, PCI-SIG, USB-IF, SATA).
