Job Description Summary The Senior MRO Value Engineer – Welding will report to the MRO Value Engineering Leader in the MRO Technology & Cost group of the Assembly, Test, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (ATMRO) organization. This is an exciting opportunity that is scoped with a combination of quality engineering and manufacturing engineering to support the component repair business in MRO develop new capabilities to drive SQDC. You will be responsible for driving improvements in component repair by partnering with cross functional teams from local manufacturing engineers, product lines, repair and design engineering, and special process experts. The goal of the value engineering team is to improve broader MRO business targets on delivery timelines, cost, and productivity to support our customers. The role will have a major impact on the Commercial Engine Services (CES) business’s goal to reduce TAT and improve margins. This role will also participate in special process auditing of the GE MRO network per specification 259.08 to ensure compliance with GE and industry specifications in our facilities. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities As a Senior MRO Value Engineer - Welding, you will be part of a team that is focused on proactively identify manufacturing challenges impacting SQDC in the GE Aerospace MRO network and solving those issues with a combination of individual process expertise, baselining shop practices, and FLIGHT DECK tools. Some specifics will include: Safety: Executes special process auditing of GE MRO network based on the GE Aerospace 259.08 quality requirements. The team will participate in monthly audits around our global component repair network and ensure corrective actions are read across to the full network. Quality: The team will collaborate with different repair shops and HQ to ensure that newly developed repairs are industrialized properly, ensuring that quality, delivery, and cost metrics are met before a new repair is deployed. Delivery: The team will collaborate with repair shops to identify, and problem solve for constraints to achieve a 30-day repair TAT with 100% FTY (first time yield). Examples include identifying technical process improvements, justifying capex spending, and rightsizing demand/equipment capacity to the demand. Cost: The team will drive productivity improvements in the network by understanding best practices in the network and deploying globally. Other responsibilities include: Gaining awareness in latest welding technical developments, including CMT and Laser Welding, and being one the primary on-the-ground focal to support implementation in the network. Driving standardization in weld repairs across the network but collaborating with existing repair stations on current practices and synthesizing them into the “best known way”. Ensure that products and services perform according to quality standards and that manufacturing processes are capable and qualified. Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field. Communicate with and provide recommendations to management on technical, organizational, resource and personnel issues Collaborate effectively in a diverse, global, distributed work environment Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, or at least 4 years of experience in an MRO manufacturing environment At least 3 years of experience in welding or welding engineering for Aerospace hardware, preferably aircraft engine hardware. Knowledge of overhaul and component repair processes Fluent in English, written and verbal. Ability to travel 50% to international destinations, including but not limited to: USA, Brazil, United Kingdom, Hungary, Poland, Italy, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan.
