  • understand provincial/municipal structures, administration, and operations, including elections, accountability, and transparency.
  • advise senior municipal staff and elected officials on implementing provincial policies and evaluating municipal submissions.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS:

You can:

  • lead and coordinate concurrent projects with ministry staff, other governments, and stakeholders.
  • analyze issues, guide Municipal Advisors, and set priorities to meet project timelines.
  • provide technical expertise to intra-ministry committees on local government issues.
  • lead discussions with senior municipal staff, elected officials, and ministry staff.

COMMUNICATION AND RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT SKILLS:

You can:

  • provide clear, strategic advice on legislation, programs, and standards.
  • create and write proposals, briefing materials, and correspondence.
  • deliver training and education to municipal stakeholders effectively.
  • negotiate and persuade on sensitive municipal issues with political acumen.
  • foster partnerships and networks with advisors, specialists, and stakeholders.
