JOB DESCRIPTION

The Water Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking an enthusiastic and talented Senior Municipal Engineer for immediate employment our Victoria, BC office. This role is partially to expand our growing office due to project demands and will include responsibilities to grow and expand the Victoria based team as needed. The role is a blend of project execution and team management functions and will appeal to someone looking for increased responsibilities in an interesting and rewarding career on South Vancouver Island.
From the project side, the qualified applicant will have an understanding and significant experience in civil engineering, civil technology and construction management principles and will be familiar with the design and construction of municipal infrastructure. From the team management side, the role will include team building, mentoring staff, client management and proposal preparation.

They will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and customers. The successful candidate will be expected to support in the delivery of infrastructure to customers mostly within the municipal water, wastewater, and storm water sector.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design of civil systems associated with municipal water and/or wastewater conveyance facilities.
  • Design of systems associated with lift stations, pump stations and other mechanical equipment associated with water and wastewater utilities.
  • Perform constructability reviews
  • Perform construction inspections
  • Lead construction contract administration
  • Prepare documentation for design projects and reports
  • Prepare construction cost estimates
  • Preparation of project specifications and contract documents
  • Additional responsibilities will include client communication and management; assistance with proposal preparation; contract preparation and negotiation; coordination with regulatory agencies; project planning, budgeting, and scheduling.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 8 years of related experience with civil engineering, design, and construction inspection
  • Minimum 4 years experience with municipal water, wastewater or stormwater conveyance and infrastructure
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • PEng or eligible for registration as P.Eng. in British Columbia

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite
  • Valid BC Class V Driver’s License
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and clients
  • Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Training and experience in project management is a benefit.
  • MMCD Contract Administration certification is a benefit
  • Should have a working knowledge of water / wastewater / stormwater conveyance infrastructure in a Municipal environment.
