About the job

The Company

At AccountsIQ, part of the AIQ Group, we’re on a mission to deeply understand our customers and deliver technology that enriches their lives. Alongside ExpenseIn, a leading expense management platform within the group, we provide smart, feature-rich financial management software designed for ambitious businesses that have outgrown basic starter systems or seek a simpler, more affordable alternative to complex, costly ERP solutions.

Our cloud-based accounting software transforms the finance function, making it easier for multi-entity businesses to capture, process, and report their financial data with ease and efficiency.

The Role

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the successful candidate will play a key role in the design and development of AccountsIQ applications, joining our agentic squad as a Senior Engineer.

This squad is focused on building practical AI/agentic workflows into the AccountsIQ product, alongside platform modernisation and production-ready engineering. The work is product-led, with several high-impact agent opportunities identified through customer feedback and market insight, focused on helping finance users save time on manual, repeatable or complex tasks.

We’re looking for a hands-on Senior Engineer who can help build secure, reliable and scalable product features in a real SaaS environment. You’ll be joining at an early and exciting stage of this work, with the opportunity to contribute to both the technical approach and the long-term direction of agentic features within the product.

We’re seeking a Senior .NET Engineer with strong full-stack development experience and a focus on Azure operations, distributed systems and cloud-native engineering. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in building scalable applications using .NET, Azure and modern engineering practices, with experience in microservices, event-driven architecture or Dapr being particularly valuable.

What you’ll be doing

  • Designing, building and maintaining scalable full-stack applications using .NET and modern frontend frameworks, such as Vue.js.
  • Building practical AI/agentic workflows into the AccountsIQ product, focused on real customer problems and measurable user value.
  • Architecting and implementing distributed, microservices-based solutions using Azure cloud services and, where relevant, Dapr.
  • Working on platform modernisation, improving the reliability, scalability and maintainability of our applications.
  • Managing cloud-native operations, including deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting and optimisation of distributed systems.
  • Collaborating with Product, Engineering, DevOps and QA teams to deliver robust, high-performing software.
  • Bringing senior engineering judgement to areas such as API design, system design, observability, security, performance, testing and deployment.
  • Helping shape how we build and operate agentic product features in a secure, reliable and production-ready way.
  • Ensuring best practice in code quality, automated testing, security and observability.

What you’ll need

  • 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with strong expertise in C# and .NET / .NET Core.
  • Proven experience across full-stack development, with the ability to work across backend and frontend when needed.
  • Strong backend engineering experience, including REST APIs, service design and data-driven systems.
  • Good knowledge of Azure cloud services, such as App Services, Service Bus, AKS, Functions, Key Vault, Application Insights or similar.
  • Experience building distributed, microservice or event-driven architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with Dapr would be highly beneficial, but strong adjacent experience with distributed systems, asynchronous messaging, service communication or cloud-native architecture is also relevant.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and cloud-native DevOps practices.
  • Experience supporting, monitoring or troubleshooting production systems.
  • An understanding of observability, performance tuning, security and reliability in a SaaS or product engineering environment.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, DevOps, QA and customer-facing teams.
  • A self-starter mindset, with strong problem-solving, time management and analytical skills.
  • BSc/MSc in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

  • Experience with AI-assisted development, LLMs, agentic workflows or AI-enabled product features.
  • Experience with Azure Functions, Service Bus, Event Hubs, AKS, Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis or similar technologies.
  • Experience modernising legacy systems or decomposing monoliths into more scalable services.
  • Experience building workflow automation, document processing, data extraction, user-assistive tools or other features that reduce manual work.
  • Experience in finance, accounting, ERP, payments or other data-heavy SaaS environments.

What's the hiring process?

  1. After application review, shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete a short one-way video interview via Hireflix. The questions are written by our Director of Engineering, and all responses are reviewed manually. We do not use AI to assess candidate responses or in any part of the recruitment process.
  2. You’ll then have a short call with our People team to discuss your application, motivations, availability, salary expectations, and any questions you have about the role or process.
  3. Following this, you’ll meet our Director of Engineering for a 30-minute technical discussion covering your engineering background, technical experience, and alignment with the role.
  4. The next stage is a practical technical interview with the hiring team, lasting around 1.5–2 hours. This includes a live coding exercise in the IDE and language of your choice, followed by a deeper discussion around architecture, system design, and your approach. You’ll be encouraged to think out loud during the exercise, but you won’t need to prepare anything specific in advance.
  5. The final stage is an informal conversation with our CTO, giving you the chance to learn more about our technology strategy, the team, and how this role contributes to the wider department.

We use the one-way video stage to give every candidate the same opportunity to answer role-relevant engineering questions, and all responses are reviewed manually by the hiring team. Please keep an eye out for an email from Hireflix, as this will be the first stage of the process following application review.
