Description:

Pickering College is an independent day and boarding school with grades Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12, located in Newmarket, Ontario since 1909, founded in 1842. As a member of the Information Technology Department, reporting to the Executive Director IT, the Senior Network Administrator deploys, configures, administers, and maintains network infrastructure (LAN, Cloud, VPN, Wi-Fi, internet gateway and telephony) and business systems (Office 365, Azure, FinalSite Enrolment, PowerSchool, Edsby, RE NXT, FE NXT and Billing Management etc.) for all faculty and operational staffs to carry out their day-to-day business operations.
This role ensures that all systems are maintained appropriately for students to learn effectively, while staff and students receive adequate technology to excel in their roles and curriculum.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in information technology (IT) / Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
· Completion of advance Cisco Certification or similar certification is a must.
· Completion of network security certification is an asset.
· Possess very good communication (verbal and written) skills to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical users.
· At least five years related work experience in network administration and maintenance, network security, MS-Azure, Windows servers and cloud services.
· Hands on experience in configuring, managing and maintaining firewalls, switches, access points, DNS, Load Balancer, VLANs, VPN, Windows servers, security door access, security cameras and content filtering as per industry security standards.
· Can demonstrate very good technical knowledge of current anti-malware applications, network applications, all network layers, routing, switching, related protocols (TCP/IP, IPv4 and IPv6, HTTP, HTTPS, SFTP, SSH and SNMP) and encryption.
· Strong knowledge in Active Directory, Azure, Group Policy, Office 365, Google Apps G Suite and Virtualization (Hyper-V).
· Ability to script common operational activities in PowerShell.
· Can demonstrate a good understanding on defining policies, access control, logging management and network monitoring.
· Liaise with 3rd party vendors, external contractors and internal staff to ensure that IT standards are met with industry standards and internal policies and procedures.
· Maintain an inventory of hardware, network appliances, software and licenses.
· Possess strong critical thinking skills and ability to solve complex technical issues.
· Good organizing skills and time management, and ability to prioritise tasks and multi-task.
· Good interpersonal skills and proven customer service experience.

Pay: $80,000.00-$90,000.00 per year

Responsibilities:

· Configure, manage and maintain Firewall, Switches, Access Points, Security Cameras, Security Door Access, VPN, Servers, Printers and Copiers.
· Manage and maintenance cloud solutions especially Azure, Office 365 (email, One Drive and Teams etc), SaaS and PaaS.
· Ensure that all hardware and software are configured to meet the industry standards and to optimum performance.
· Enhance scalability, reliability and resiliency of the IT infrastructure and services.
· Support the cybersecurity stance by implementing, managing and maintaining appropriate technical measures and controls.
· Maximize network performance by monitoring, troubleshooting and scheduling regular security patch and upgrades.
· Collect, save, review systems logs, and take appropriate action if any anomalies are found.
· Document and perform disaster recovery and business continuity of each system.
· Perform regular data and system backup, test data and system backups and conduct data and system recovery tests.
· Conduct regular audits, at least twice a year, to ensure that the best practices and standards are followed in network operation.
· Staying abreast of IT trends, research and attending professional development.
· Any other duties as required.
