Overview Position Summary: Responsible for technical user support and security in the company's local area networks. Maintains hardware and software on the company's network servers and user workstations. Monitors and controls data communications equipment and software Responsibilities Key Accountabilities: Controls security in the local area network including creation of passwords and allocation of access rights for users to data files and applications. Controls access rights to the company's electronic mail system. Installs, configures and monitors file and application servers on the local area network; Performs hardware and software installation and maintenance. Installs and tests hardware and software for workstations, printers, and other peripheral devices in employee work areas; Diagnoses causes of failures and performs corrective or preventive maintenance. When necessary co-ordinates service calls to outside vendors, reporting problems and assisting with the repairs. Operates data communications hardware/software, i.e. routers, modems, and servers. Assists employees in operation of computers, printers and other peripheral equipment. Keeps an up to date hardware and software inventory, and performs other administrative tasks required by Information Services & Support standard procedures. Assumes direct responsibility for areas assigned by IT Manager, including supervision of Network Administrator(s) assigned to the area Budget Managed (if applicable): N/A Internal Networking/Key Relationships: To be determined based on department needs Skills & Capabilities: Ability to troubleshoot hardware/software malfunctions and perform repairs is required. Capability to manage resources and prioritize tasks in the assigned areas of responsibility is key. Qualifications Min Knowledge & Experience required for the position: Duties necessitate a working knowledge of computer hardware and operating systems, servers, computer networks, and peripheral equipment.
