This is a hands-on contract role focused on lab validation, testing, and ensuring production-ready delivery across enterprise and telecom network environments.

About the role

You will review and validate IP/MPLS network designs, build lab environments that replicate production scenarios, and carry out functional, failover, and interoperability testing. You will also support production readiness through clear documentation, rollout assurance, troubleshooting guidance, and knowledge transfer to delivery teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and configure lab environments for end-to-end testing and design assurance.
  • Perform functional, performance, failover, and interoperability testing across multi-vendor environments.
  • Validate Cisco and Juniper devices, along with routing, switching, DHCP, DNS, Syslog, and related network services.
  • Identify design gaps and recommend optimisation opportunities.
  • Prepare test plans, validation reports, MOPs, and implementation documentation.
  • Support rollout readiness and provide troubleshooting guidance to implementation teams.

Skills and experience

  • 5 to 7 years of experience in IP networking, network design validation, and lab testing.
  • Strong experience with BGP, OSPF/IS-IS, MPLS L2/L3 VPNs, and IP network design.
  • Hands-on expertise with Cisco and Juniper platforms.
  • Good understanding of routing, switching, security, and network services, including DHCP, DNS, and Syslog.
  • Knowledge of firewall technologies, including Fortinet and Check Point, is highly desirable.
  • Exposure to EVPN/VXLAN, Wireshark, TCPdump, IXIA, Spirent, Cisco ACI, NSO, or automation tools such as Python, Ansible, or NETCONF/YANG will be advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications

  • Relevant degree in Telecommunications, Networking, Engineering, or a related discipline is desirable.
  • Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIS, or JNCIP will be highly regarded.

Mandatory requirements

  • Candidates must have full Australian work rights.
  • Candidates must be currently based in Australia.
  • Fully remote work is not available for this role.
