Qualifications
This position provides senior technical leadership in the area of network design, operations and service management. Assists less experienced technical staff on LAN and WAN network support. Is involved in projects providing technical team leadership and helping to set direction. Defines, documents and recommends standards, implementation plans, support procedures and technical specifications. Works with management staff and other team technical leads to define strategy and set technical direction. Oversees operational delivery of outsourced teams. Effectively communicates ideas both verbally and in written form. Demonstrates expert knowledge of networking technologies and services. Performs other duties as assigned.
Lead operational activities in the area of Network services and network security.
Responsible for network design and technical standards. Collaborate with department heads to assess near and long-term network capacity needs.
Manage delivery of outsourced teams to meet SLA and project dates.
Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, technical plans, service records and support procedures.
Provides technical leadership for network projects and operations security of the network. Provides project coordination and management.
Provide operational support and assist team members on planning, problem resolution, and network implementation.
Represents the team on technical matters with other teams, external vendors and service providers.
Manages customer expectations. Keeps the customer aware of project status, risks and critical issues.
Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed. Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
Communicates technical issues and plans to management, external and internal customers and business partners.
Manage and track network service contracts and network circuits as well as associated budgets.
Participate in Change process - planning, approval, and implementation.
Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and/or Computer Science preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
5+ years’ experience in a high-end network engineering capacity is required.
4+ years of network operations experience is required.
Expert level knowledge of TCP/IP and LAN/WAN technologies.
Expert level knowledge in switching technologies and data center networking technologies
Advanced working knowledge of routing technologies and routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF and/or EIGRP.
Working knowledge of Telco service provisioning/implementation process.
In depth knowledge and proven experience with network management and network diagnostic and troubleshooting tools/techniques.
In depth knowledge and proven experience with network capacity planning.
In depth knowledge firewalls and security related IDS/IPS systems. Preferably, Fortinet and Palo Alto.
In depth knowledge of Cisco IOS and NX-OS as well as F5 or similar network load-balancing technologies.
Experience with scripting and/or automation of network tasks is a plus.
Ability to solve network design challenges.
Vendor management skills.
Candidates should be flexible / willing to work across this delivery landscape which includes and not limited to Agile Applications Development, Support and Deployment.
