OVERVIEW

CommNet is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our amazing company to support the DoD customer build transformative networks for the Army’s Next Generation Command and Control architecture.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of networking and virtualization technologies, with a proven track record in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex network infrastructures at the Army tactical level. This role is critical in ensuring the reliability and performance of our network systems while also supporting the Army’s cloud initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience (network, satellite, RF engineering)
  • US Citizen and have at least a Secret Security Clearance
  • Extensive experience in network engineering with a strong focus on the Army’s tactical network.
  • Proficiency in virtualization and storage technologies such as VMware, vSphere, EMC, NetApp, Dell, HP and others.
  • Cisco Experience to include: Cisco IOS and NXOS, Cisco ISE, Cisco UCS Netowrking and Configuration, Cisco ASA.
  • Routing Protocols such as BGP, OSPF, RIP, EIGRP as well as proficiciency in multicast.
  • A background in designing and implementing LANs and VLANs.
  • Understanding best methods of implementing tactical VoIP technologies
  • Familiarity with cloud services is highly desirable.
  • Experience with legacy and emerging Army / DoD networking solutions is a plus.
  • Strong skills in automation purposes.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while also being able to work independently when required.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.

Responsibilities
  • Design, plan, and experiment with the evolving Army tactical and strategic communications networks by integrating commercial and government solutions.
  • Design, implement, and manage secure network solutions that support organizational goals.
  • Oversee the configuration and maintenance of network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cloud services such as Azure, GCS, and AWS into existing infrastructure enterprise.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for network configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Implement appropriate security protocols to enhance security across all network communications.
  • Utilize virtualization technologies such as VMware and vSphere for efficient resource management.
  • Automate tasks using Shell Scripting to improve operational efficiency.
  • Engage in DevOps practices to streamline deployment processes and enhance collaboration between development and operations teams.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
