POSITION SUMMARY:

Glass City IT is seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain advanced networking solutions for our diverse client base. This role requires deep technical expertise in network architecture, security, and troubleshooting, along with the leadership skills to guide projects and mentor junior engineers. The Senior Network Engineer will be a key escalation point for complex networking challenges and will ensure our clients’ infrastructures are optimized for performance, security, and scalability.

Guide and train junior network staff, providing technical leadership and contributing to skills development within the team.

Responsibilities
  • Network Architecture & Design:

Plan, design, and implement secure, high-performance LAN/WAN/WLAN infrastructures, including on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.

  • Deployment & Configuration:

Lead installations and configurations of routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems across multi-site environments.

  • Performance Monitoring & Optimization:

Utilize advanced monitoring tools to ensure network health, proactively addressing issues and bottlenecks.

  • Security & Compliance:

Implement and maintain security standards (NIST, CJIS, HIPAA, PCI), including firewall policies, VLAN segmentation, access control, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.

  • Troubleshooting & Escalation:

Serve as the final escalation point for network-related incidents, ensuring timely resolution and root cause analysis.

  • Disaster Recovery & Continuity:

Develop and maintain network redundancy and failover strategies to ensure uptime and resiliency.

  • Vendor & Technology Management:

Evaluate and select network hardware, software, and services; work with vendors to ensure optimal support and pricing.

  • Mentorship & Leadership:

Guide and train junior network staff, providing technical leadership and contributing to skills development within the team.

  • Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain comprehensive network diagrams, configuration files, and change management documentation.
