JOB DESCRIPTION: SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEER — OSS LAB NETWORK

This position supports the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Transport Services Directorate (IE) and its Cyber NetOps Tools Division (IEA) on the Operational Support System (OSS) Legacy Systems Sustainment effort. OSS comprises tools and enclaves used by DISA Tier II/III to monitor, control, analyze, and manage DoDIN/DISN equipment; while OSS is a legacy environment being replaced by the cloud‑based Global Management System (GMS), it must be sustained to ensure continuity of operations during transition. Primary work is performed at Ft. Meade.
Mission of the role. Your charge is to keep OSS reliable, secure, and accredited across lab and production by sustaining: (1) the OSS Lab Network, (2) Network Services (AAA, DNS, NTP, Syslog, SAN/NAS/Brocade, RDP), (3) CDBA, (4) JSME, and (5) OSS Firewalls/technical refresh—using a lab‑first pipeline, disciplined change control (IP/DP with reversion), STIG/IAVA patching, and clear documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years enterprise routing/switching; hands‑on with load balancers and firewall adjacency.
  • DoD 8140 IAT‑II (e.g., Security+).
  • STIG/ACAS familiarity; IPv6/SNMPv3 migrations; DoDAF diagramming

Responsibilities

Operations & Maintenance

  • Patch/upgrade OS/firmware; perform configuration backups; shut‑down/start‑up for planned power events; troubleshoot connectivity.Integration & Testing
  • Configure routing/NAT/VPN/dual‑stack paths; support lab integration for new devices and management systems.Accreditation Support
  • Provide STIG/scan evidence and artifacts to ISSM; maintain DoDAF OVs/SVs.Deliverables
  • Monthly lab activity report; quarterly network diagrams and rack‑e updates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years enterprise routing/switching; hands‑on with load balancers and firewall adjacency.
  • DoD 8140 IAT‑II (e.g., Security+).
  • STIG/ACAS familiarity; IPv6/SNMPv3 migrations; DoDAF diagramming.

Preferred Certifications:

  • CCNP Enterprise (or JNCIP‑ENT), F5/Netscaler, Network+; Palo Alto PCNSE (plus).

Work Environment:

  • On‑site at Ft. Meade lab; core hours; support high/low side as required.
  • Clearance: Top Secret/Secret with NIPR/SIPR and OSS enclave access.
