He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role We’re seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our Digital team, based in Newmarket, Auckland. This is a strategically critical role responsible for the design, delivery, optimisation and operational support of Operational Technology and control systems network infrastructure across Watercare’s control systems environment. Over the next 12 months, you’ll provide dedicated technical capability across multiple concurrent projects supporting the Control Systems Programme, including SCADA upgrades, OT network lifecycle replacements, cybersecurity enhancements, fibre remediation, and digital enablement of wastewater treatment plant upgrades. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the availability, resilience, safety, and compliance of networks that underpin essential water and wastewater operations, while supporting effective transition into operational ownership. Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities In this role, you will: Design, optimise, support and secure OT and enterprise network infrastructure Lead network performance improvements and resolve complex technical issues Deliver technical input across multiple capital and digital programmes concurrently Support the design, remediation and operational handover of OT and control systems networks Contribute to future‑focused network roadmaps and continuous improvement initiatives Work closely with system owners to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions Assess and manage risk when planning and implementing network changes Apply strong operational processes, peer reviews and change controls Use modern network monitoring and diagnostic tools to drive operational excellence Collaborate across Digital, Operations and project teams to deliver shared outcomes Actively coach and share knowledge to uplift capability across the wider network team Uphold Watercare’s Health, Safety and Wellbeing commitments at all times Ngā pūkenga e rapu nei mātou | About you You’re a senior‑level network engineer with a strong OT mindset who thrives in complex, business‑critical environments. You bring deep technical expertise, sound judgement, and a collaborative approach to solving problems in environments where safety, resilience and reliability are paramount.
