Description
Senior Network Engineer   Location: Carol Stream, IL   We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Senior Network Engineer to support and drive our continued growth. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and securing all aspects of our network infrastructure within a 24/7 production environment. The Senior Network Engineer ensures high availability, performance, and resiliency across LAN, WAN, VPN, Wi-Fi, and cloud networks that support our critical print operations and digital delivery systems. ----------------------------------------   Key Responsibilities * Design, configure, and manage enterprise network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and SD-WAN. * Monitor, analyze, and optimize network performance; proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks and latency issues. * Strengthen network security by implementing firewalls, IDS/IPS, ACLs, segmentation, and encryption technologies. * Maintain and administer network hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless controllers. * Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues affecting production SLAs and operational uptime. * Lead network-related projects such as upgrades, migrations, expansions, integrations, and lifecycle refreshes. * Create and maintain detailed documentation for network configurations, standards, and troubleshooting procedures. ----------------------------------------   Required Knowledge & Experience * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience. * 10+ years of experience in network engineering or network administration roles within enterprise or production environments. * Strong understanding of modern networking protocols including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, TCP/IP, VLANs, MPLS, etc. * Hands-on experience with enterprise networking hardware, preferably HPE Switching and Mellanox, with familiarity in Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, SonicWall, or equivalent. * Deep understanding of cloud-native networking concepts and technologies across AWS, Google Cloud, and/or Azure. * Solid understanding of IT security best practices and compliance standards relevant to regulated industries such as print/mail. * Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and troubleshooting skills. ----------------------------------------   Preferred Skills * Certifications such as CCNP or equivalent. * Experience supporting highly available network infrastructure in production environments. * Experience with large-scale HPE and Mellanox switching environments (highly preferred). ----------------------------------------   Security & Compliance * Implement and maintain firewall rules, ACLs, IDS/IPS, and network segmentation in coordination with security teams. * Ensure network infrastructure aligns with compliance frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and PCI. * Support and contribute to zero-trust networking initiatives and secure architecture design.
