AS OUR NEXT SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEER, YOU’LL PLAY A CRITICAL ROLE IN THE DESIGN, OPERATION, AND EVOLUTION OF TAURANGA CITY COUNCIL’S NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE. THIS IS A SENIOR TECHNICAL POSITION THAT OFFERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHAPE NETWORK STRATEGY, LEAD KEY INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS, AND ENSURE ROBUST, SECURE, AND HIGH-PERFORMING SERVICES THAT SUPPORT COUNCIL OPERATIONS AND THE WIDER COMMUNITY.

  • You will have the opportunity to shape TCC’s future network operating environment
  • Be a leading stakeholder in the future delivery of our network
  • Lead conversations around prioritisation, scope, and task assignments
  • Continuously improve network processes, procedures and ways of working, delivering against our maturity objectives
  • Manage upgrades with minimal disruption, and optimise network assets for business process improvements.
  • Continually improve services, manage service requests and problem tickets, and drive innovation to enhance effectiveness.

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • 10 + Years of Experience in a network engineering role.
  • Professional industry certification(s) in network infrastructure environments – planning design, and implementation such as CCNA, CCDA, CCNP or the Aruba equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience with Aruba Switching and Wireless and Palo Alto Firewalls is a MUST.
  • Experience with Aruba SD-Branch, Cisco Meraki, Juniper Networks, and Extreme Networks switching platforms is a plus
  • Proficiency in solution design, installation and on-going support.
  • Experience with Azure and AWS cloud networking is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Next Generation and Software Defined Networking principles and design.
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts, including SDN, cloud-based services, and hybrid cloud deployments.
  • In-depth knowledge of routing protocols and features (OSPF, BGP, RIP, VRFs, etc), switching technologies (VLANs, Spanning tree, 802.1X, MAC Auth, etc), and their applications in network infrastructure design.
  • Exposure with PRTG monitoring software.
  • Experience with Data Centre refresh projects is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve complex Network problems.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, engaging with both business and technical stakeholders
