Lead complex three waters engineering decisions that protect essential services Influence capital and maintenance investment using real operational insight Petone Office based role This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week. The remuneration range for this role is $108,644 to $153,379 p.a. (including KiwiSaver) depending on skills and experience. The opportunity Wellington Water is looking for an experienced Senior Network Engineer to play a key role in keeping our drinking water, wastewater and stormwater networks operating safely, reliably and efficiently. Working across all three waters, you will investigate complex network performance issues, scope and plan remediation works and upgrades, and manage operational maintenance and capital projects from procurement through to delivery. Acting as the operational client, you will ensure real-world network insights inform asset planning and capital delivery decisions. This is a senior technical role where you will provide specialist engineering expertise, act as an escalation point for high-risk operational issues, and support incident and emergency response to maintain essential services for our communities. You will work closely with Network Performance, Asset Planning, Capital Delivery, Service Delivery teams, and a wide range of external stakeholders. Key responsibilities Act as a subject matter expert for network assets, contributing to asset planning, maintenance strategies and investment decisions Lead and support project teams, mentoring Network Engineers and delivery partners Support incident and emergency response, including on-site support and post-incident reviews Build strong relationships with councils, regulators, contractors, customers and community stakeholders Ensure health, safety and environmental requirements are embedded in all planning and delivery activities About you To be successful in this role you will bring: A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering and a full driver’s licence 8+ years’ experience in the water sector, ideally in operational network engineering Strong experience in asset and network management, including investigation of performance issues Proven capability delivering maintenance and capital projects end-to-end Confidence working with contractors and managing technically complex projects Benefits At Wellington Water, our purpose extends beyond delivering great water services for the region; we foster a thriving community, support a diverse workforce, and offer supportive development opportunities.
