QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or related field

  • 5 years’ experience in network administration, configuring network switching equipment, server operating systems, VMWare and Storage area network technologies (SAN)

  • Experience in/Certifications: Alcatel Enterprise, CWNP, Aruba ACMP, Palo Alto ACE, MCSA/MCSE, and/or CISSP
  • Advanced understanding of network fundamentals and security, including experience with managed wireless networks, firewalls, routing, DNS and DHCP
  • Experience in an Active Directory/LDAP environment
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex problems involving multiple systems (networking equipment, mobile devices, OS X, Windows Server, Windows 7, Windows 10)
  • Experience managing and deploying a Virtual Server environments (cloud and on site)
  • Experience implementing and maintaining network security
  • Experience integrating voice services, directory services, network services, audio visual, email, etc. into a converged telecommunications infrastructure
  • In depth understanding and experience with WAN technologies
  • Experience with PCI environments and compliance
  • Strong technical presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle to transport equipment

SALARY RANGE: $80,000 TO $100,000 ANNUALLY

Responsibilities

IN ADDITION TO THE DUTIES MENTIONED ABOVE, THE INDIVIDUAL IN THIS POSITION:

  • Configures, administers, and maintains the network, including all network hardware, software, wireless systems, and Internet connections
  • Defines network policies and procedure
  • Collaborates with the Systems Administrators to integrate the district’s network and Active Directory domain and applications.
  • Assesses network security and performance on an ongoing basis and makes adaptations as needed.
  • Ensures the security of the town and district’s network.
  • Develops and implements a plan to mitigate the impact of network equipment failure.
  • Provides the CIO, Director of IT Operations and Service Desk Manager with timely updates on issues impacting the availability of critical network systems.
  • Ensures that network issues are resolved in a timely fashion.
  • Maintains confidentiality in regards to data stored, processed, or accessed by the network.
  • Communicates with and manages vendors as needed.
  • Assists the Director of Operation and Support in preparing the network portion of the technology roadmap and department’s capital and operations budgets.
  • Provides networking support to end-users and basic network support training to technology staff.
  • Maintains an inventory of networking equipment, thoroughly documents the network topology, and maintains a change log for the network.
  • Performs maintenance, support, and other responsibilities during evenings and weekends
  • as required.
  • Tracks network performance using current monitoring tools.
  • Communicates relevant network activities to staff and teams affected by changes or problems with the voice and data networks
  • Interfaces with vendors for product information, maintenance, billing, contract issues, and the timely resolution of escalated problems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
