This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Observability Engineer in Germany. As a Senior Observability Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and scaling observability systems that empower engineering teams to operate efficiently and confidently. You will be responsible for building platform-level features such as alerting, SLOs, reporting, and synthetic tests while managing observability agents across Kubernetes environments. The role combines hands-on engineering with strategic guidance, allowing you to influence observability best practices and standards across multiple teams. You will contribute to upstream projects, explore cutting-edge technologies, and help define a company-wide approach to telemetry and monitoring. This position offers a collaborative environment with opportunities for mentorship, community engagement, and direct impact on platform reliability and performance. Accountabilities: · Design, implement, and maintain observability features such as alerting, SLOs, reporting, and synthetic tests. · Operate, manage, and scale observability agents and collectors across Kubernetes-based systems. · Develop Kubernetes controllers and operators using frameworks like controller-runtime and KubeBuilder. · Define and enforce observability standards and guidelines across engineering teams. · Partner with developers to embed observability by default into products and services. · Optimize performance, cost-efficiency, and value of observability systems. · Contribute to upstream open-source projects and evaluate emerging observability technologies. · 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability, DevOps, or Platform Engineering with a focus on observability. · Hands-on experience with at least one major observability platform (e.g., Prometheus, Victoria Metrics, OpenSearch). · Strong experience with Kubernetes, including controllers, operators, and Helm. · Proficiency in writing Kubernetes controllers (controller-runtime, KubeBuilder). · Strong programming skills in Go or Python (Rust is a plus). · Experience designing, scaling, and operating observability systems at enterprise scale. · Familiarity with cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP). · Solid understanding of distributed systems, telemetry pipelines, and instrumentation standards such as OpenTelemetry. · Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders. · Contributions to open-source observability projects, eBPF knowledge, or experience with technical speaking/publications are a plus. · Competitive salary with performance-based incentives. · Flexible remote work policy with options for hybrid or fully remote arrangements. · Opportunities for professional growth, mentorship, and impact across multiple teams. · Exposure to cutting-edge observability technologies and industry standards. · Inclusive, collaborative, and innovation-driven team culture. · Health coverage and additional perks.
