ABOUT YOU

You will be a registered nurse with a proven track record in an occupational health setting. You will have good knowledge of all aspects of occupational health service provision, and ideally experience in an NHS, Higher Education or equivalent occupational health environment. You will have excellent evidence based clinical assessment and advisory skills, along with outstanding communication skills. Experience of computerised occupational health record keeping systems and Microsoft Office applications are also essential. The successful candidate should be able work autonomously as well as being a strong team player.
The role demands interaction with many people within and external to UCL, thus a professional attitude, a flexible approach, a willingness to help, an ability to remain tactful, as well as a high degree of cultural and disability awareness are required to adequately execute the duties outlined in the attached job description.
Although not essential, being registered on part 3 of the NMC register as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) Occupational Health is advantageous.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Occupational Health Advisor, you’ll join our team of nurses and our in-house doctor to deliver the full remit of occupational health services to the UCL staff and professional regulated students. In addition to undertaking case management following referral, you will also take a role in work-related and travel immunisation, health surveillance and pre-enrolment screening processes, providing evidence-based professional advice and occupational health opinion to both the UCL and external clients in the identification of health risks arising from work and study activity, and on issues that affect health and wellbeing.
As a senior member of the team, you will also help to lead and develop junior members of the clinical team and there may be a requirement to provide line management. You will also be required to be involved in audit and governance activities, policy development, wellbeing promotion, and supporting our service to maintain its SEQOSH accreditation.
This is an on-campus role based at our offices in Bidborough House, a short walk from Euston and Kings Cross stations, though we hope to support home working one day per week, depending on the needs of the service. During the first two months of probation the successful candidate will be on site full time for their induction programme. You will also be required to undergo occupational health screening and a DBS check before being confirmed in post.
