JOB OVERVIEW
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced occupational therapist (OT) to join our dynamic team on Garner Ward, Cornwall’s specialist dementia inpatient service, covering maternity leave . We are looking for a senior OT to lead and shape therapies on the ward, bringing new and exciting ideas and improving engagement for those living with dementia and detained under the Mental Health Act. The successful post holder will lead the Rotation Band 5 OT’s, Band 5 Physio, and Band 3 activity coordinators, working alongside the nursing team, psychiatrists, psychology and medical teams.

MAIN DUTIES OF THE JOB
To provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions, both individually and in groups, taking into account individual service user needs.
To contribute to the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of interventions within the context of a multi-disciplinary team.
To work as part of the ward management team alongside the Ward Manager and Senior nurses.
To participate in cognitive assessments and present at weekly MDT patient review. To be an integral part of the discharge planning process, facilitating home visits or recommending onward care, and to be present at discharge planning meetings to discuss this with patients and carers.
To contribute to the development of the Trust Occupational Therapy Service, and to oversee the internal therapy team on Garner ward, including activities coordinators and reminiscence groups.
