QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree in Commerce/Business/Accounting or a related field
  • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) is preferred
  • 7 - 10 years relevant accounting experience
  • 2+ years’ experience of managing finance teams
  • Strong understanding of Project Accounting principles and practices
  • Strong Technical accounting proficiency in billing and cost accounting
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience in Construction, Engineering or Heavy Manufacturing Industries is an asset
  • Advanced Excel Skills
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and system controls, SAP preferred
  • Proficiency with financial and management/cost accounting systems
Responsibilities

Reporting to the Operations Finance Controller, the Senior Operations Accountant is responsible for providing all aspects of accounting and financial support across a portfolio of projects and/or joint ventures for business unit. The incumbent is responsible for implementing and maintaining project accounting processes and controls, in accordance with company policies and procedures, to ensure delivery of clear, accurate, consistent and relevant project and business unit financial information on a timely basis. Senior Operations Accountant is responsible for providing management reporting and analysis for projects and business unit, supporting operations with budgets and forecasts, and providing contestability into the numbers. The role includes managing the work and leading a team of Operations Accountants and Accounting Clerks. The incumbent possesses moderate to strong leadership and communication skills to complement their fully proficient technical skills. The Senior Operations Accountant is a key representative of the Operations Accounting Function and is responsible for establishing and maintaining long-term collaborative stakeholder relationships. He or she acts as a trusted business partner and key contributor with the senior leaders of the business unit.
