The Ski Club of Victoria (SCV) is seeking a passionate and hands-on Senior Operations and Member Engagement Manager to join our team. As the 2IC to the General Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our club operates smoothly and effectively. Your focus will be on our members, who are at the forefront of everything we do.
In this position, you will drive success by enhancing member experiences and contributing to building a better club for our community.
We anticipate this role to begin in March 2025, however, we do have some flexibility for the right candidate.
    Key Responsibilities:
Operational and Staff Management: This is a hands-on role, that will both oversee and deliver the day-to-day operational requirements, including administration, daily balancing, banking and staff scheduling. The successful candidate will be required to deliver excellent cost management through positive opportunities for efficiencies, whilst not compromising on member experiences or club service and quality. As required, this role will lead and develop other operational team members, particularity in the front office, to ensure we deliver outstanding customer service all year round.
Member Relations and Engagement: Enhancing member engagement and experiences by fostering a welcoming and rewarding environment that encourages long-term membership will be key for this role. In partnership with the GM, and also other key marketing and sponsorship team members, this role will contribute to driving membership satisfaction through activating member-based initiatives, as well as driving growth through identifying potential opportunities to attract new ski enthusiasts to the club, ensuring a steady influx of membership. The SCV is all about our members, and this role will be a critical connection between the club itself and the members.
Revenue and Inventory Control: Driving room revenue in line with SCV expectations and associated budgets will be key. This will be predominantly achieved via effective utilisation of room rates and maximising occupancy by maintaining an accurate rooms inventory control system.
Partnership Development: Developing and maintaining relationships with external partners and vendors to enhance operational and membership efforts will be a major area of work for our successful candidate. This will include collaborating with club sponsors and other support partners who we may engage, who play a critical role in supporting the racing during winter.
Event Coordination: In partnership with the GM, the hospitality team and other club personnel, this role will play a lead role coordinating all aspects of event/function planning with clients and members, from floor plans and run sheets, to assisting with menu selection, delivery of the actual function or event, and invoicing. Ensuring seamless execution and high levels of client and member satisfaction will be the key to success here. Moving forward, this role will need to work with the broader team to ensure member events are planned and activated, so that the club always puts members first.
Membership Management: Managing and maintaining the membership database, including new member inductions (which this role will be charged with re-designing and re-launching) will be regular and imperatives tasks. Timely and fit for purpose responses to general member enquiries and/or ensuring other management or the Board are engaged as needed will be a clear demonstration of our commitment to our members. Ensuring accurate records and efficient handling of all membership-related activities will ensure the SCV is, and remains, the place to be at Mt Buller.
Customer Satisfaction and Service: Ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction and service is in place, by welcoming members and their guests warmly and addressing their needs promptly when at the club or whenever they are in contact with the club.
Marketing: Facilitating the delivery of all activities and communications, in line with the clubs’ values and strategy is critical. The successful candidate will be unrelenting in maximising opportunities to enhance the SCV’s brand visibility and reputation for the benefit of members all year round. The SCV also recognise and appreciate the important role we play in the broader Mt Buller and Victorian skiing community. This role will partner with the GM to help ensure we continue to facilitate and grow this important aspect of the club.
To be successful in this role, we are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate:
Proven experience in operations management and member engagement, ideally in a club or hospitality environment.
Strong leadership and team development skills.
Flexibility and adaptability to changing demands and priorities.
Ability to think and deliver outcomes with flair and creativity.
Excellent organisational and communication abilities with a passion for customer service.
Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders - including with members, guests, colleagues, other club partners and sponsors, management and the Board.
Proficiency in database management, Microsoft Office Suite and experience using a RMS/PMS and or Channel Manager preferred.
This is a full-time role; however, it is not a typical Mon-Fri business hours role. The hours of work to ensure successful delivery of club operations as outlined above will at times require both weekend and evening work. To be considered for this role, you will need to have the flexibility to work with the broader team to plan out rosters and be available at necessary times.
There is also the option for some on-site accommodation at various times, subject to availability. The role will predominantly be based on-site at our SCV premises at Mt Buller, with some off-mountain travel required to ensure the requirements of the role can best be met.
We are offering a competitive renumeration package based on experience.
If this sounds like the fresh start you need in 2025 we urge you to please forward a cover letter and CV directly to our General Manager at manager@skivictoria.com.au
