MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience. * 6 years of experience with one or more optical technologies (e.g., optical transceivers, optical metro, or long-haul Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) systems). * Experience in one or more programming languages (e.g., C++, Go, or Python). PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Experience with network equipment manufacturer or network operator in engineering or design role. * Experience with planning and designing large scale networks (e.g., multiple sites, multiple products, etc.) ABOUT THE JOB: Google is proud to boast a network that provides service to millions of Internet users around the world. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $150,000-$218,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Define requirements and identify technologies for scaling our transport network in a cost-efficient and operationally streamlined manner. * Engage with external vendors and internal teams to operationalize stable, scalable platforms. * Develop and execute test plans for optical systems. * Automate test infrastructure to qualify and introduce new products into our production network. * Develop tools and processes for automation of network management and operations.
