Role Description:
The Senior Software Engineer will join a high-performing transformation engineering team delivering a major legacy-to-cloud modernisation program. This hands-on role combines AWS integration engineering with enterprise data migration capability, designing secure API integrations and delivering safe, repeatable migration of critical data from legacy Oracle platforms into modern cloud environments.
- ResponsibilitiesDesign and build AWS-based integration solutions that extract data from relational databases and upstream APIs and deliver data into external vendor platforms through secure API interfaces.
- Develop and execute repeatable ETL/ELT processes to migrate data from legacy Oracle platforms into target cloud data platforms and vendor solutions.
- Perform complex data mapping, transformation, validation, and reconciliation across source and target systems.
- Implement secure REST API authentication and authorisation patterns including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, API keys, mutual TLS, and AWS security controls.
- Build resilient integration workflows incorporating error handling, retries, idempotency, monitoring, alerting, and rollback capabilities.
- Deploy integration and migration components through established Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD pipelines.
- Work closely with vendors and business stakeholders to validate data quality, migration outcomes, and operational readiness.
- Produce technical documentation, runbooks, and support handover activities.
- Skills & ExperienceStrong experience delivering enterprise data migrations from complex legacy relational database platforms, particularly Oracle environments.
- Proven experience designing and developing API-based integrations between multiple enterprise systems.
- Strong SQL skills with experience in schema analysis, data extraction, transformation, and reconciliation.
- Hands-on AWS experience with services including Lambda, API Gateway, EventBridge, SQS, SNS, Step Functions, and Secrets Manager.
- Strong understanding of REST API patterns including pagination, rate limiting, webhooks, retries, and error handling.
- Practical experience implementing API security patterns including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, API keys, and mutual TLS.
- Strong programming capability using Python, Java, Node.js, or similar backend technologies.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code practices (Terraform preferred).
- Experience supporting enterprise or government transformation programs is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work with technical teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.
