Senior Packaging Design and Development Engineer PRIMARY DUTIES: * Lead end‑to‑end development of primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging for new and existing products. * Initiate and implement packaging design changes that improve quality, manufacturability, and cost efficiency. * Design, create, and modify die lines, drawings, and CAD models as needed. * Creative concepts to be validated by utilizing rapid prototyping tools (including cutting tables) to validate die lines, prove out concepts, and produce samples for stakeholders. * Ensure all packaging designs comply with required testing standards and performance criteria. * Develop and execute packaging test protocols aligned with ISTA, ASTM, and internal standards. * Lead the development of new packaging systems and the implementation of manufacturing and assembly processes. * Develop packaging specifications, documentation, visual manufacturing aids, and assembly training materials. * Track production problems; conduct root-cause analyses, fault isolation, and failure investigations. * Analyze test data and drive corrective actions to improve packaging reliability and performance. * Prepare and manage project timelines, ensuring milestones are met. * Collaborate with sales, brand, innovation, marketing, engineering, and logistics teams to develop proposals and execute new initiatives. * Provide engineering support based on product knowledge, packaging systems, manufacturing processes, logistics, and customer requirements. * Support marketing driven packaging concepts from ideation through commercialization. * Communicate technical information clearly to management and key stakeholders. * Work collaboratively with team members to identify and develop optimal packaging solutions. * Work with suppliers to evaluate materials, technologies, and production processes. * Provide support to domestic and international suppliers during development and production phases. * Ensure packaging specifications, tooling, BOMs, and documentation are accurate and up to date. * Travel to international and domestic suppliers as needed to support development and manufacturing activities. * Lead initiatives to reduce material usage, improve recyclability, and adopt sustainable packaging innovations. * Conduct cost analyses and identify opportunities to eliminate waste and improve manufacturing efficiency. * Maintain awareness of new packaging trends, materials, processes, and technologies. * Mentor junior and mid-level packaging engineers. * Perform related duties and special projects as assigned. EDUCATION AND ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Science or Design, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent field AND; * 5+ years experience in Packaging Development, Packaging Design, commercialization, or similar functions OR; * Any similar combination of education and experience. * Understanding of Manufacturing and Supply Chain functions. * Proven record of assisting in the development and successful launch of new and existing products. * Strong proficiency in CAD (ArtiosCAD, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or similar). * Hands-on experience with ISTA and ASTM testing standards. * Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers or leading technical teams. * Strong understanding of material properties, converting processes, and packaging manufacturing methods. * Excellent communication, project management, and analytical problem‑solving skills. * Experience in consumer goods, electronics, or related industries working with corrugated, paperboard, rigid plastics, and flexible barrier materials preferred. * Knowledge of sustainability practices or lifecycle assessment. * Proficient with palletization optimization or simulation tools. * Demonstrated Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.  * Knowledge of AX operating system a plus. ***This is a salaried exempt, full on-site position located in Bradford, PA.  This position is open to remote if selected candidate resides greater than 45 miles from Bradford, PA.*** Smoking is permitted in most areas of Zippo workplaces facilities, other than certain designated non-smoking areas.
