QUALIFICATIONS:

  • NVQ Level 3 or above (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience of direct work with children, young people, and families in the home or community.
  • Experience of effective partnership working with a range of agencies, including statutory, voluntary, and community organisations.
  • Proven ability to support families with multiple and complex needs, including completing assessments, developing intervention strategies, and reviewing progress.
  • Competence in maintaining accurate records, organising and prioritising workloads, and using IT systems (e.g., Outlook, MS Office, electronic case management systems).
  • Knowledge of Early help and integrated processes, Parenting issues and vulnerabilities, Safeguarding and child protection legislation, Accredited parenting programmes and strategies to empower families.
Responsibilities

WHAT’S INVOLVED WITH THIS ROLE:

The Senior Parent Support Advisor will provide holistic family assessments and coordinate tailored single or multi-agency support packages. The postholder will work with families to address challenging behaviours, reduce negative family dynamics, and secure positive outcomes, with a strong focus on improving educational attendance, attainment, and reducing school exclusions.
This is a key frontline role, empowering families to make sustainable changes and strengthening relationships between services, schools, and communities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Hold and manage a complex caseload, acting as lead professional to coordinate multi-agency support for families.
  • Undertake whole family assessments and secure support services from other agencies.
  • Develop, monitor, and review family action plans to ensure goals are achieved in a timely manner.
  • Attend case conferences and court proceedings as required.
  • Develop and monitor parenting contracts where appropriate.
  • Lead on the delivery of accredited parenting programmes.
