Description
The Senior Patient Services Specialist plays a vital role in supporting patient care and clinic coordination across multiple Swedish Cancer Institute campuses. This position provides comprehensive patient orientation and independently manages a broad range of complex clerical and administrative responsibilities in a fast‑paced clinical environment. Key responsibilities include scheduling new patient consultations, follow‑up clinic appointments, subsequent treatments, and requested diagnostic tests; obtaining insurance verifications, referrals, and authorizations; preparing and maintaining accurate patient medical records; reconciling billing issues; answering multiple phone lines; and appropriately triaging incoming calls. This role requires exceptional communication and problem‑solving skills related to patient care and clinic operations. A high level of compassion, sensitivity, and emotional resilience is essential when working with an oncology patient population. Required Qualifications:   * Successful completion of Oncology administrative training within six months * Medical Terminology Certification or successful completion of a Medical Terminology course within 6 months (180 days) of hire  * 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred (i.e. physician’s office, scheduler, etc.) * Experienced in obtaining insurance verifications, referrals and authorizations Preferred Qualifications:  * Associate's Degree emphasis in Health Care or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with emphasis in Health Care.
