JOB OVERVIEW

We are currently hiring a dedicated Senior Payroll Administrator to be based at our offices in Sherwood Park, Cold Lake or Blackfalds. The Senior Payroll Administrator is responsible for multiple payroll-related functions ensuring accurate and timely processing and will have the opportunity for continuous growth and development to support the Payroll Manager.

REQUIREMENTS

  • National Payroll Institute PCP (Payroll Compliance Professional) designation preferred with a goal to attain the National Payroll Institute PLP (Payroll Leadership Professional) designation
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll administration
  • Familiar with federal and provincial employment laws and payroll regulations
  • Accounting experience with knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in processing full cycle payroll
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments
  • Capable of handling confidential, sensitive and personal information
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate is considered an asset
Responsibilities
  • Process weekly and bi-weekly multi-provincial payroll for employees accurately and timely
  • Manage employee records, resolve inquiries, and process terminations
  • Prepare ROE’s and issue T2200s
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer employee inquiries regarding payroll-related matters
  • Prepare and submit payroll reports to management as required
  • Ensure compliance with all employment legislation and regulatory guidelines
  • Support the Payroll Manager for full cycle payroll responsibilities in preparation, submission, verification and posting of payrolls
  • Complete calendar end activities, including weekly payroll cash flow projections, month-end general ledger account reconciliations and bank reconciliations, and year-end processes, updating taxable benefits, producing T4 slips and T4 Summaries, reviewing and responding to PIER reports
  • Administer filings and payments to external stakeholders including source remittances, benefits, WCB, RRSP, tax levies, garnishments
