JOB DESCRIPTION

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Payroll Officer to join our team at our Head Office in Altona. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity with flexibility to offer part-time hours (0.8 FTE) for the ideal candidate.
Reporting to the National Payroll Manager, this role plays a key part in overseeing payroll operations, supporting team members, and contributing to process improvements and systems integration.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

Responsibilities
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll in line with company policies and statutory requirements
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies or anomalies within the time and attendance systems
  • Prepare and collate payroll data for regular pay runs
  • Produce supporting documentation for superannuation, payroll tax, and WorkCover reporting
  • Reconcile payroll-related payments and ensure financial accuracy
  • Assist with End of Month and End of Financial Year payroll activities
  • Respond to internal and external payroll-related queries in a professional and timely manner
  • Maintain and update payroll systems and procedures to reflect legislative changes
  • Act as a point of escalation for complex payroll queries
  • Mentor team members to build capability and ensure consistency in payroll practices
  • Support the implementation and integration of new payroll and HR systems
  • Contribute to system testing, data migration, and user training during system upgrades or transitions
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within payroll operations
