POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Payroll Processing Clerk to join our team. In this critical role, you will oversee and execute complex payroll operations, ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, and serve as a subject matter expert for payroll processes. This position requires exceptional accuracy, discretion, and a strong understanding of multi-location and multi-state payroll practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred
  • 10+ years of payroll processing experience, with a strong track record of accuracy and confidentiality
  • Experience with multi-state payroll and high-volume processing strongly preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and labor compliance
  • Proficiency in payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now, Paylocity, Paycom, or similar platforms. Recent payroll conversion or integration experience preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with the highest level of discretion
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus
Responsibilities
  • Process payroll for 350 employees, including salaried, hourly, and seasonal staff
  • Review and audit timekeeping records, deductions, and adjustments for accuracy and compliance; communicate with supervisors to investigate missing or unusual activity
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll, including bonuses, garnishments, and reimbursements
  • Maintain payroll records in accordance with company policies and government regulations
  • Reconcile payroll reports and assist with month-end and year-end close activities
  • Audit benefits (both paid time off balances and medical benefit contributions) monthly to ensure accuracy.
  • Generate payroll-related reports for finance, audit, and compliance purposes
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies professionally and promptly
  • Demonstrate knowledge of ADP Workforce Now at an intermediate or expert level in recent 3 years. Support the implementation and optimization of any new payroll systems or HRIS software.
  • Stay current on wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and payroll best practices
  • Provide training or support to HR support staff as needed
