We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service. Overview The Senior Payroll Specialist will be responsible for supporting the bi-weekly payroll cycle, leading compliance audits, documenting our policies and procedures, and providing assistance to employees & managers. The Payroll Specialist will be someone who is highly competent with spreadsheets and possesses a high attention to detail. This position is in our People organization and will interact with everyone in the organization. Therefore, the ability to communicate clearly and concisely is a requirement for this role. Responsibilities Support the bi-weekly payroll cycle, such as timecard review and pay data imports Perform bi-weekly timecard audits for meal break compliance Document policies and procedures Maintain and troubleshoot physical time clocks Set up payroll in new states and submit timely informational and tax filings Exporting payroll data from ADP and preparing reports in Excel, such as an overtime report As needed, collaborate with the HRIS Analyst on system implementations and data integrity Required Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field with a minimum 7 years of payroll experience Minimum 2 years of experience using ADP Workforce Now Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including INDEX, MATCH, SUMIFS and data analysis functions Self-directed with the ability to work independently High attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing payroll data and reports Ability to identify discrepancies and resolve payroll issues efficiently Excellent documentation and communication skills Demonstrated Time Management skills Experience with manufacturing/production employees Knowledge of payroll-related laws, regulations, and compliance standards (e.g., FLSA, IRS, state, and local tax regulations) Desired 2 or more years of experience in a startup environment Knowledge of SOX compliance standards Experience with data visualization tools, such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms Ability to build and maintain dashboards that provide insights into payroll trends, audit results, and KPIs Experience with platform implementations and testing support Continuous improvement mindset Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $77,700 - $131,500/year. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
