Job Title: Senior Payroll Specialist - Union Payroll
Location: Bolingbrook, IL

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist with a strong background in union payroll processing to join our team in Bolingbrook, IL. In this role, you’ll be responsible for overseeing and executing accurate and timely payroll for union and non-union employees in compliance with collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), federal/state regulations, and internal policies.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring payroll integrity, handling complex pay scenarios, and maintaining effective relationships with HR, finance, and union representatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4+ years of payroll experience, with at least 2 years focused on union payroll processing
  • Strong understanding of collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) and union rules
  • Proficient in payroll software (e.g., ADP, UKG, Paycom, or similar platforms)
  • Familiarity with multi-state payroll, garnishments, and benefit reporting
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Effective communication skills for cross-functional and union interactions
  • CPP certification (Certified Payroll Professional) is a plus
Responsibilities
  • Process weekly/bi-weekly payroll for union and non-union employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with CBAs
  • Interpret and apply union contracts related to pay rates, overtime, shift differentials, and benefit contributions
  • Manage union-related deductions (e.g., dues, assessments) and ensure timely remittance to union organizations
  • Coordinate with HR and timekeeping systems to verify timecards, job classifications, and labor allocations
  • Maintain detailed payroll records and reports for audits, reconciliations, and union reporting
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal payroll laws and labor regulations
  • Support benefit reporting, certified payroll (if applicable), and fringe benefit calculations
  • Troubleshoot payroll issues and respond to employee inquiries related to pay, deductions, and benefits
  • Partner with HR, Finance, and union reps to improve payroll processes and resolve any discrepancies
  • Assist in year-end processing, including W-2s and other tax filings
