JOB DESCRIPTION AND SKILLS

QuEST Global require a senior PCB Layout Engineer to join their team at our customer site in Edinburgh. You are expected to have experience in using PCB design/layout tools, processes and standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

You are expected to have an ONC/HNC or HND in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, supported by appropriate understanding of electronics and a specialisation in PCB design.
Work Experience

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

You will have experience of the following;

  • Creating complex multi-layer PCBs involving digital (including FPGAs), RF, power supply and mixed-signal circuitry in accordance with IPC-2221.
  • Providing advice to electronic engineers relating to design rules for PCB tools, materials and substrate technology.
  • Creating PCB layer stackups for optimised power distribution / signal routing.
  • PCB technologies such as BGA, High Density Interconnect (HDI), Flip Chip and buried/micro vias.
  • Implementing controlled impedance & matched length tracking and screening techniques such as area fill & guard traces to minimise signal crosstalk.
  • Collaborating with Mechanical design colleagues on seamless ECAD-MCAD integration, i.e. import & export of PCB profile and PCB Assembly (PCBA) data.
  • Validating manufacturing data to ensure compliance with supplier capability.
  • Liaising with external suppliers; PCB Manufacturers and Contract Electronics Manufacturers (CEMs) / PCB Assembly houses.
