P&O Ferries are recruiting a Senior People Advisor to join our People team based at our office in Woking.

A household name for over 180 years, P&O Ferries have a rich heritage in ferry services. Our ships sail across the English Channel, North Sea & Irish Sea and we employ almost 2000 people.
The Senior People Advisor is a key position within the People Team delivering a professional advice service across all business areas and supporting the People Director, HR Operations team and People Business Partners across P&O Ferries.
This is a key role providing expert HR advice, guidance and support across a wide range of employee relations, organisational development, and HR operational matters. Working closely with People Leaders you will ensure HR practices are aligned with business objectives and help drive a high-performance, inclusive culture.

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • CIPD qualified Level 5 (desirable)
  • Degree educated - preferably in either an HR or Law-related subject
  • Experienced, pragmatic professional with a demonstrable track record of managing large programmes of management activity
  • Excellent organisational skills with ability to prioritise workload within a complex environment and multiple stakeholders
  • Able to establish credibility at all levels to influence and guide management on all issues
  • Previous experience of working within a unionised environment
  • Knowledge of employment legislation
  • Excellent computer skills including word and excel and HR systems (Oracle would be advantageous)
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise way
  • Experience of working with employees at all levels
  • Experience of dealing with challenging situation where emotions may play a part
  • Ability to empathise whilst maintaining professionalism
  • Strong analytical capability – highly numerate
  • Multi-site experience
  • Strong attention to detail, happy to “roll their sleeves up”
