Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The M1 to Raymond Terrace Project team are currently looking for an experienced Senior People Advisor to join the team, based in Tarro, NSW. Approximately 30 minutes from Newcastle CBD.
Reporting to the People Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in partnering with construction leaders to deliver operational HR support to over 300 white and blue collar project-based employees. You’ll manage a HR Coordinator and collaborate closely with project teams to ensure people management practices are aligned with legislative requirements, enterprise agreements, and company policies.
Key responsibilities include leading employee relations (ER) processes and supporting the development and rollout of demobilisation activities across the project. You’ll be a trusted advisor, helping leaders navigate complex HR matters, interpret and apply enterprise agreements, and foster a high-performance culture.
We’re looking for a driven individual with exceptional communication skills who can become a trusted partner to our people and the project. We would also be open to considering a 4 day work week for a more experienced professional.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE INCLUDE:

  • Provide expert support and advice to leaders and employees on all workplace relations matters
  • Recommend and support the implementation of HR strategies in collaboration with the People Manager
  • Lead and develop the HR Coordinator, building team capability and effectiveness
  • Oversee the full range of people management activities including recruitment, remuneration, employee relations, and offboarding / demobilisation
  • Recommend strategies to enhance employee performance and contribute to successful project outcomes
  • Provide accurate data, insights, and reporting on HR activities to support continuous improvement

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS KEY ROLE, YOU MUST HAVE:

  • A degree in Business, Human Resource Management, Law, Finance or other associated disciplines and / or 3-5 years’ experience in a human resources advisory role
  • Strong knowledge of national and state regulatory frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience in managing employee relations and performance matters
  • Experience managing a direct report (desired)
