Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF THE SENIOR PEOPLE BUSINESS PARTNER ROLE

Ahead of the grand opening of BESTSELLER’s Logistics Centre West (LCW) in 2027/2028, we are looking for a Sr. People Business Partner who will play a key role in shaping, building, and leading the People & Culture function at LCW. The role reports directly to the Head of Global PEOPLE (HR) Logistics in BESTSELLER with a dotted reporting to the Site Manager for LCW, Lelystad.
In the pre-opening phase, the focus will be on laying the foundation: developing structures, processes, and culture to prepare LCW for a successful launch. After the opening, in the post-opening phase, you will step into a leadership role as part of the LCW Management Team, responsible for daily People operations, leadership development, and strengthening the organization for the long run.
You are both a strategic sparring partner and a hands-on executor; someone who can build from scratch and then scale.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Pre-opening phase

  • HR & Organizational Setup: Develop and implement a People roadmap for LCW, including workforce planning, organizational design, and cultural anchoring
  • Recruitment & Employer Branding: Design and drive a recruitment strategy for both the pre-opening and operational phases. Establish local employer branding and partnerships with educational institutions and labor market stakeholders
  • Culture & Leadership Development: Act as a cultural ambassador for BESTSELLER and support new leaders in developing values-based leadership
  • Process & System Readiness: Prepare and implement core HR processes (onboarding, performance management, engagement) tailored for a greenfield context, aligned with global frameworks
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with LCW leadership, Global Logistics People, and BESTSELLER Netherlands to ensure alignment and smooth cross-functional collaboration

During this phase, you will be the sole HR presence on-site in Lelystad, supported by a backup team in Amstelveen, and will lay the foundation for expanding into a dedicated HR team post-opening.

Post-opening phase

  • Daily HR Responsibility: Drive the people agenda at LCW and act as a trusted sparring partner for leaders on all HR topics
  • Management Team Role: Contribute as a member of the LCW Management Team to enhance business performance and profitability
  • Implementation of Global Processes: Execute global people processes (employee engagement, performance management, recruitment, onboarding) at LCW
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure smooth HR administration and daily people operations
  • Annual People Cycle: Drive and embed the yearly HR cycle, including engagement surveys, development dialogues, and employer branding activities
  • Team Development: Lead and grow the LCW HR team.
