This role has been established to help provide important data analytics and insights to understand, build and support our future workforce.     About the opportunity | Te mea angitū kei a tātou  We’re seeking a Senior People Data Analyst to play a key role in delivering the data insights, reporting, and analytics that underpin these critical initiatives. This is a 12-month fixed-term opportunity, ideal for a senior-level analyst who thrives on turning complex data into actionable insights that inform workforce planning and strategic decision-making.    What you’ll do | Ngā kawenga matua   In this senior analytical role, you will:    Lead critical people data initiatives that strengthen the organisation’s data foundations, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and trust in insights.  Analyse workforce trends and identify key levers influencing the organisation’s labour cost model, providing actionable insights to improve business and workforce outcomes.  Ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality data reporting and analysis for senior leaders, managers, and HR partners.  Deliver regular and ad-hoc reporting on key workforce metrics, including recruitment, remuneration, performance, and workforce demographics, where required.   Continuously improve data quality, reporting processes, and analytical tools to enhance insight generation and decision-making capability.  Present findings through clear, engaging visualisations and narratives tailored to diverse stakeholder audiences, and provide guidance and direction on insights where required.      What you’ll bring | He aha ngā pūkenga e rapu ana mātou   You’ll be an experienced and collaborative data professional with the confidence to engage at all levels and influence through evidence and insight. You’ll bring:   You have strong Microsoft Excel skills, including proficiency in Power Pivot and Power Query. Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI) or the willingness to learn.  Good understanding of workforce management processes, HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems), time and attendance systems, and people analytics tools is desirable.  Familiarity with statistical analysis and data modelling is required.  Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret and extract actionable insights from complex data sets.  Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills — you can turn data into compelling stories that drive decisions.  A strong attention to detail with a pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset.    About KiwiRail | Mō mātou    KiwiRail is a purpose-driven State-Owned Enterprise with a commercial mandate.
